Viet Soul Art Ceramics
Founded in 2007 by Meritorious Artisan Vũ Đức Thắng — also General Secretary of Hanoi’s Artisan Association — Viet Soul Art is more than a ceramics brand. Nestled in the heart of Bát Tràng village, his home-studio also serves as a museum and has become a beloved destination for both local and international visitors.
Unlike mass-produced ceramics made for everyday use, Viet Soul Art creates one-of-a-kind art pieces crafted for collectors and connoisseurs. Each work is not just functional — it is a pursuit of beauty, designed to transcend utility.
Thắng, a graduate of Hanoi University of Industrial Fine Arts, approaches ceramics with the intuition of a painter. While respecting traditional techniques, he explores sculptural methods like relief carving and engraving, embedding cultural and historical narratives into the clay. The result: ceramics that speak with a soul.
“True ceramic beauty,” he believes, “lies not in its function, but in its spirit. Handmade pottery reflects the emotion of its maker — it cannot be replicated by formula or machine. That’s what makes each piece unique.”
His works have appeared in exhibitions across the world, including his renowned ceramic shoes — intricately carved and featured in Đẹp Fashion Show 11 — a perfect fusion of fashion and craft.
