Bringing together Italian fashion and Vietnamese ceramic art, The Bát Tràng Ceramic Boots. An Inspiration from Italy offers a fresh and engaging cultural experience for Hanoi’s art lovers.
Held at Casa Italia and co-hosted by the Embassy of Italy in Hanoi and the Bát Tràng Museum of Viet Soul Art, the show features 12 ceramic boots created by the late People’s Artisan Vũ Đức Thắng. Each piece reflects skilled craftsmanship and bold use of glazes—one was even recognized in 2013 as Vietnam’s largest ceramic boot by the Vietnam Records Organization.
Location Casa Italia (18 Lê Phụng Hiểu, Hoàn Kiếm, Hà Nội)
Time 10/04/2022 – 03/05/2022

Set in a space inspired by the Bát Tràng kiln and the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the exhibition sparks a poetic exchange between East and West. Visitors are drawn not only to the form and texture of the boots but also to the cultural dialogue they represent—between Italian fashion and Vietnamese tradition.
Italian Ambassador Antonio Alessandro calls the show “a cultural bridge between Italy and Vietnam,” and a reflection of Italy’s ongoing effort to bring culture closer to people. The boot form also nods to Italy’s iconic map shape—a playful twist on national identity.
The curators hope the exhibition will soon travel to Rome, continuing its journey as a celebration of Asia–Europe cultural dialogue through the language of craft and creativity.
