Bát Tràng Museum Atelier (BTMA) participates in THREADS SHOWCASE: MATTER & MAKING, an exhibition presented as part of RUE MICHE @ 22 HÀNG BUỒM. Curated by Nguyễn Hồng Nhung, the showcase brings together eight artists and creative practices from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
The 22 Hang Buom Arts and Culture Center is a nationally recognised heritage site with Vietnamese, Chinese and French architectural features. Formerly the Cantonese Assembly Hall, the building dates back more than 200 years and is one of two historic assembly halls still preserved in Hanoi’s Old Quarter.
Venue 22 Hang Buom Arts and Culture Center, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi
Dates 03 – 25 October 2026
Opening hours 10:00 – 21:00 daily

At THREADS SHOWCASE: MATTER & MAKING, BTMA is presented alongside Lương Văn Việt, Phạm Xeen, Quyết Dương, Hoàng Lê Giang, Koa Phạm, Đinh Project and representatives from Van Lang University. The practices presented span ceramics, painting, sculpture, photography, fashion and traditional craft. Placed alongside one another, the works reflect different approaches to materials, techniques and methods of making.
According to curator Nguyễn Hồng Nhung, BTMA’s presentation focuses on shifts in material, form and function. Familiar forms such as boots, handbags and chairs — objects used in everyday life — are remade in ceramic, retaining their recognisable forms while taking on new material characteristics. The works thus become individual elements in a dialogue between craft traditions and contemporary perspectives on objects.

BTMA presents Ceramic Boot, “Ai Ơi” Handbag Vase, Dragon Monobloc and Dragon Stool from the Dragon of the Urbanities collection, Vietnamese Halter Top from the AN NAM collection, and Blooming Moon Jar Chandelier. An Nam Bamboo Lamp, a new design by Bát Tràng Museum Atelier and designer Diệu Anh, will be presented for the first time at the showcase.

The works selected for this presentation have been developed from the practice of the late People’s Artisan Vũ Thắng and subsequent collaborations and research at Bát Tràng Museum’s ceramic atelier, which has been active for more than 50 years.
