The Metropole Heritage Ceramic Plate

The Metropole Heritage Ceramic Plate is a collaboration between Bát Tràng Museum Atelier (BTMA) – the ceramic workshop founded by the late People’s Artisan Vũ Đức Thắng – and Metropole Hanoi.

Part of the Metropole: The Story of a Living Legend collection, it was launched for the 2026 Mid-Autumn Festival.

The design features relief motifs drawn from its history, including balconies, vintage telephones and automobiles.

Marking the hotel’s 125th anniversary, the design features relief motifs drawn from its history, including balconies, vintage telephones and automobiles.

Available in six glaze colour editions, each plate is finished by hand using BTMA’s signature layered glazing technique. Firing creates natural tonal variations, making each plate a distinct edition.

Bát Tràng Museum Atelier (BTMA)
is the ceramic workshop of Bát Tràng Museum, developed from the family pottery workshop established in Bát Tràng by the late People’s Artisan Vũ Thắng more than 50 years ago. Across generations, the workshop has continued to research the techniques, forms, glazes and motifs of traditional Vietnamese ceramics. Building on this foundation, BTMA develops new designs while also exploring forms and aesthetics from different cultures through contemporary design..

 

Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi
is a historic hotel in central Hanoi, operating since 1901 and distinguished by its French and neoclassical architecture. Over its 125-year history, the hotel has hosted numerous heads of state and international figures. Part of its history is preserved in an underground wartime bomb shelter, rediscovered and conserved as part of the hotel’s heritage. This conservation project received a UNESCO Asia – Pacific Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation in 2013.
