BLOOMING – DỆT MỘT ÁNG HOA continues BTMA’s journey of highlighting traditional cultural values in contemporary creations.

As the workshop is dedicated to their long career of elevating the values of traditions through a creative contemporary manner, meticulously made were the pieces of BLOOMING, each artfully adorned with traditional flower motifs typical of Vietnamese porcelain, such as the showy dixie rosemallows or the graceful flower vines.

The individual pieces of this pottery collection are all iconic designs trademark of BTMA. However, BLOOMING is the very first collection to bring these household names under a unifying theme; their details are intricately polished and aptly refined as per each pottery design to connect these artworks together, composing a special ceramics collection.

What makes BLOOMING stand out as a collection of pottery is its handling of porcelain glaze. As Phạm Thăng Long – the Production Manager of Bát Tràng Museum Atelier noted, in order to achieve this natural shade of blue willow in every embellishing pattern, the experienced craftsmen of the workshop had to double the amount of efforts to produce and refine every stroke of painting.

By advancing the traditional embellishing arts of Vietnamese pottery and integrating them into the workshop’s modern works, BTMA strives to breathe contemporaneity into the familiarly classical that is porcelain pottery.

BLOOMING is the very first collection to bring these household names under a unifying theme.

Following the conventional colour palette of Vietnamese antique porcelain, the ivory white accent in the base of every piece of BLOOMING is intentional to better highlight their hand-drawn features. Furthermore, the rendering of these delicate hues and patterns is partially influenced by the choice of material, methodical handling of clay and precise control of the firing temperature. These elements, at the same time, also contribute to set this collection of pottery apart from ordinary porcelain.

BLOOMING – DỆT MỘT ÁNG HOA is a new creative milestone for Bát Tràng Museum Atelier. As Vũ Khánh Tùng – the Creative Director of Bát Tràng Museum Atelier puts it, in honoring and inheriting the legacy of pottery-making of the late People’s Artisan Vũ Thắng, traditions are always at the core of BTMA’s values. By advancing the traditional embellishing arts of Vietnamese pottery and integrating them into the workshop’s modern works, BTMA strives to breathe contemporaneity into the familiarly classical that is porcelain pottery.
