Bát Tràng Museum Atelier (BTMA) develops ceramic designs specifically for individual brands and partners, responding to the requirements of each project and drawing on the studio’s ceramic practice. From form, glaze and decorative motifs to function, each piece is developed for its intended context while incorporating BTMA’s techniques of ceramic making and surface finishing.
Projects with Sulwhasoo, Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi, CAO Fine Jewellery, thomm, ĐING ĐANG and XÉOXỌ range from commemorative objects and pieces created for specific collections to functional objects.
Moon Jar & Plum Blossom Coasters (2025)
As part of Sulwhasoo’s Beauty From Culture initiative in Vietnam, Sulwhasoo and Bát Tràng Museum Atelier developed two collaborative designs: the Moon Jar and Plum Blossom Coasters.
The Moon Jar references the classic ceramic form of the same name, incorporating Sulwhasoo’s plum blossom emblem as a relief motif.
The piece is finished in BTMA’s matte white glaze. The pair of Plum Blossom Coasters further explores the blossom through the symmetrical arrangement of its petals. Together, the two designs combine references from Korea with BTMA’s ceramic forming and surface-finishing techniques.
The Heritage Ceramic Plate is part of the Metropole: The Story of a Living Legend collection, launched for the 2026 Mid-Autumn Festival and to mark the 125th anniversary of Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi.
The design was developed in six glaze colours, each finished using BTMA’s signature layered glazing technique. During firing, variations and tonal transitions emerge across the surface, making each plate distinct.
The Rice Grain Ceramic Vase belongs to the AN NAM Collection developed by BTMA and dieuANH, with a form based on the shape of a grain of rice. Its volume and angle are calculated to maintain balance, while the copper base continues the lines of the ceramic body.
In addition to the Rice Grain Ceramic Vase, selected as a gift object, other designs from the AN NAM Collection — Bamboo Node, Yếm and Mấn — were used to display jewellery from CAO Fine Jewellery’s ORIENTAL Collection at its launch event.
The Pomegranate Vase was developed by BTMA and thomm as a ceramic essential-oil diffuser, created specifically for a set paired with thomm’s essential oil.
The design takes the pomegranate as its primary form, a familiar symbol of prosperity and longevity in folk tradition. Through glazing and firing, variations in tone and surface emerge from one piece to another.
Beyond its function as an essential-oil diffuser, the vase can also hold small flower stems or be displayed as a decorative object. The deep-red version is currently distributed exclusively with thomm’s essential-oil product.
The Ngọc Thực Oil Lamp belongs to a collection launched by fashion brand ĐING ĐANG in early 2026. Its form takes the shape of a grain of rice as its starting point, translated by Bát Tràng Museum Atelier into ceramic.
BTMA developed three colourways for the design using the studio’s layered glazing technique, creating variations in tone across the same lamp form.
BTMA × XÉOXỌ
The Lotus Pedestal Cup draws on ivory-glazed cups from Vietnam’s Lý dynasty (11th–12th centuries), with relief lotus petals encircling the body. The piece takes the form of a lotus pedestal, with both the body and foot developed from successive layers of petals.
Available in three sizes, the Lotus Pedestal Cup can serve a range of functions: as a candle holder, a vessel for narcissus flowers, a floating-flower dish, a pedestal tray for fruit, or a decorative object.
