Bat Trang Museum Atelier (BTMA) introduces CON VỊT COLLECTION in collaboration with Beaulo Design.
With the creativity of Architect Nguyen Ha (Beaulo Design), alongside the BTMA team, the two special designs in this collection, The TOGAN Lamp and The NGA NGA Vase, refined from a work by the late People’s Artist Vu Thang displayed at the Bat Trang Museum, have been modified to bear new purposes, one to function like that of a vase and the other that of a lamp.
Dimension (cm) 20x18x11 (NGA NGA), 4x28x16(TOGAN)
Materials Ceramic, pigment in composite
Color Red, blue-and-white pottery with Blooming pattern

The TOGAN Lamp
As the age-old question of folklore goes: Does the duck not understand the sound of thunder, or does it not know fear? The inspiration for the TOGAN came on a whim, but regardless of how the question could be answered, the duck still appears unbothered and undisturbed.

Such is the reason why Nguyen Khuyen once jokingly said in a line of poetry:
…Though its voice is small, its gut is anything but
Loud may be lightning and thunder, but unmoved is it still.
It is from this seeming uncaringness of the duck that TOGAN gets its name, but at the same time, it holds many different interpretations in the innumerable tongues of the world.

The NGA NGA Vase
As the geese pair gazes the sky
Tranquil were they drifting the water
Inspired by Nga Nga Luong Nga Nga, a poem by Zen Master Phap Thuan, with the belief that the beauty of oneness is inseparable from the flower and vase, Nga Nga is sculpted to be a two-mouthed flower-holder for its user to freely explore and express their creativity.

Bát Tràng Museum Atelier
The 50-year-old workshop of Bát Tràng Museum, founded by the late People’s Artisan Vũ Thắng.

Beaulo Design
is a design practice centered on material experimentation—a place where ideas are made, tested, allowed to fail, and developed through making. It translates knowledge from the field into products, materials, surfaces, structures, and forms. Through this process, Beaulo Design explores how local knowledge can continue to exist in contemporary life through design.
Architect Nguyễn Hà
Founder of arb architects and co-founder of Beaulo Design and MM Lab, architect Nguyễn Hà is recognized for a number of notable projects, most prominently the Mother Goddess Museum. She is the recipient of the Moira Gemmill Prize 2024 at the W Awards, recognizing emerging architects worldwide, and the AR Emerging Awards 2025.
