Workshop: Spring and the Blooming Forms

“Spring comes, and flowers smile”

— Zen Master Mãn Giác, from “Proclamation of Illness to the Sangha”

To welcome the season of renewal, Bát Tràng Museum Atelier (BTMA) hosted its first-ever floral workshop in the heart of its heritage space, under the theme “Spring and the Blooming Forms” Guided by floral artist Vỹ Nguyễn, the event brought together a group of distinguished guests who share a love for both ceramics and blooms.

Location Bát Tràng Museum

Time 14:00 – 17:00 – 03/03/2024

For the first time at the heritage space of the Bat Trang Museum of Viet Soul Art, the floral workshop “Spring and the Blooming Forms” was held, gathering distinguished guests united by a shared love for the beauty of ceramics and flowers.

As the northern spring air gently stirred, guests gathered to arrange delicate spring flowers—tulips, ranunculus, sweet peas, hyacinths, hydrangeas—using BTMA’s latest coral-shaped Tulipiere, a five-branch ceramic vase that debuted this season as part of the museum’s iconic Tulipiere collection.

First crafted in 17th-century Europe during the “tulip mania,” tulipieres were ornamental vases made to display tulip bulbs indoors. BTMA reinterprets this historic form in traditional Vietnamese ceramics, combining European elegance with Vietnamese glaze artistry.

Each floral piece created during the workshop became a one-of-a-kind artwork for guests to take home—a poetic offering from BTMA to mark the beginning of the year.

The gathering concluded with an intimate tea session featuring local delights: sweet pomelo, crisp apples, and Bát Tràng’s signature bánh tẻ (rice cakes). In the company of blooms and ceramic vessels, stories were exchanged and new connections were formed—celebrating both artistry and heritage.

This workshop opens the door to a new series of art-focused programs to be held regularly at Bát Tràng Museum.
